Coronavirus Update – Fr Brendan Reed

Dear Parishioners,

Coronavirus Update

Thank you to the many parishioners who have given us feedback in relation to our Churches being open for private prayer and devotion over last weekend. As you will be aware the Australian Government has now implemented further restrictions on people gathering in public places. This includes places of worship. For the time being this means that our Churches will not be open to the public. The current exception is for funerals and weddings. These celebrations will need to strictly adhere to physical distancing guidelines. We will guide families through this in each instance.

Following good practice at this time I am asking that parish groups suspend face to face meetings unless they are absolutely necessary. You are encouraged to make use of electronic means of communication to keep in contact as much as possible.

I am keen to keep in contact with you and ensure you that your priests and parish staff are thinking of you and praying for you. If you have any pastoral need that we can help you with please do not hesitate to make contact with us via email or phone. The Parish Office is operating as usual although we do ask that you telephone ahead if you intend to visit the office.

In the coming days I will be in touch with you as to how we propose to celebrate the Easter Liturgies with you. We are trying to be creative in how we can involve all of you from the safety of your own home.

With every best wish,

Fr Brendan
