Ladies Breakfast Group

Originally established in Our Holy Redeemer (OHR) Parish, this friendly breakfast group now welcomes women from OHR and beyond.  A warm welcome awaits you on the second Saturday of each month offering cheerful and interesting discussions, always with diverse views and a lot of humour!

This group has gathered in various formats over many years.  It began with a simple cuppa and a catch-up at church after Sunday morning Mass; the men of the parish helped out by gathering outside to chat and supervise any children playing so the tea and coffee could be enjoyed without interruptions.

Group member Bridget recalls arriving in Melbourne and, as a new school parent and parishioner, becoming involved with the group.  For her, this was a great way to get to know other women in the parish, with the group at the time coordinating Parish Care by preparing baby baskets for new mums.  This ministry broadened into providing meals and transport for those in the parish who needed assistance.

In recent years, the Ladies Breakfast Group has met monthly at Cocoa Latte in Surrey Hills.  The café setting allows those gathered to ‘have a break and enjoy being served’.  This is a prayerful group of women but not a prayer group.  “We are supporting each other as well as a lovely family business whilst sharing our ups and downs in this world of ‘covid chaos’!”

Feel very welcome to join this group of women of all ages, stages, interests, backgrounds and beliefs.  You are sure to leave enriched and very pleased you made the effort to take the opportunity to connect with old friends and establish new friendships in a relaxed and happy environment.  Although it is a breakfast meeting, some women come along just for a cuppa and the fellowship that is shared with regular gatherings.  Bridget is happy to provide transport for anyone who needs a lift, including last-minute notice for Melbourne’s inclement weather!

The Ladies Breakfast Group meets this Saturday, 12 June at Cocoa Latte, 113 Union Road, Surrey Hills.  Contact the Parish Office for further information.
