This week we learn more about what has been happening at Our Holy Redeemer Primary School in Surrey Hills.

OHR Twilight Christmas Celebration

The OHR Twilight Christmas Celebration is taking place on Friday, 29 November, commencing at 5.00 pm with Christmas Carols sung by the students.  This family event is a wonderful way to end the school year, and all are welcome to attend.  Food and refreshments will be available; and there will be fun activities for children of all ages, including balloon creations, face painting, temporary tattoos and a visit by Santa.

Remembrance Day

At this week’s whole school assembly, we reflected on the significance of Remembrance Day.  The students from Year 5/6MM presented a prayer and reflection that included rich symbols and prayers honouring the more than one and a half million Australians who have represented our great nation over the decades in wars and peacekeeping missions.  This was followed by a reading of In Flanders Fields, playing of the Last Post and concluded with a minute’s silence.

Later that same day, the School Captains and Vice Captains accompanied Mr Dame, our Principal, to the Remembrance Day Service, hosted by the Kew RSL, and held at the Cenotaph at Kew Junction.  All the schools represented were there at the invitation of Jess Wilson MP.  To conclude the service, our students placed a wreath beneath the Cenotaph.
