Music

Deepdene & Balwyn Parish

Our Deepdene & Balwyn Parish is blessed with dedicated and talented liturgical musicians. Each musician has a broad range of musical interests and expertise.

The Our Lady of Good Counsel Choir sings at the 10.30am Sunday Mass on the third Sunday of each month, and at other special occasions. Rehearsal are held immediately before Mass. New members are most welcome.

Our team of cantors also lead the congregation in song.  Picture here are Johnny De Simone and Madeleine Ryan.  Listen to our cantors praying the psalms, including Johnny leading As the Deer Longs and Madeleine singing Like a Shepherd and Jacinta, Be with me Lord.

Camberwell Parish

The Parish Choir sings every Sunday at the 10.00 am Mass and for major feasts and other special occasions. A cantor leads the singing at 10.00 am Mass and the Saturday Vigil Mass includes hymns and organ music.

The Choir is a mixed group of men and women of all ages and the musical repertoire includes a number of settings of the Mass, as well as a selection of sacred music from the 17th century to the present. New members are always welcome.

Concerts

The Basilica is privileged to have one of the finest parish church organs in Australia and is enhanced by the excellent acoustic properties of the building. Performances of choral and organ music by visiting musicians occurs annually. We have enjoyed choral concerts by leading Melbourne ensembles such as the Australian Boys Choir, Ensemble Gombert and the Tudor Choristers, as well as other instrumental concerts. Each year there is an Advent Organ Concert Series that brings people together, far and near, to enjoy the richness of our Catholic musical tradition.
