Primary School appoints Acting Principal

In August this year Mrs Jennifer Gray informed us that she would be completing her time as Principal at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Deepdene at the conclusion of the 2020 academic year.  I am grateful to Mrs Gray for her ongoing commitment to our school and for her dedication in steering us through to the end of the year and planning for 2021.

Our search for a new Principal continues.  After an initial period of recruitment, Catholic Education Melbourne, has advised that the position of School Principal should be readvertised and therefore a permanent appointment will not take place until sometime during 2021.

In the meantime, I can advise you that our school will be in good hands.  We are fortunate that Mr Gilbert Keisler has agreed to be appointed as Acting Principal of our School from January 2021 until such time as a permanent principal is appointed.

Gilbert Keisler comes to us with over twenty years’ experience as a Principal.  Some of you might remember that Gilbert was actually Principal of OLGC from 2001 until 2009.  Gilbert then went on to be Principal of St Joseph’s Primary School in Hawthorn until 2019.  For the last year he has been working as a Catholic School Reviewer and assisting schools with future planning.  We are very lucky that we will have an Acting Principal with so much experience and with knowledge of our local community.

I am looking forward to working with Gilbert in 2021 and I know that our community will extend a warm welcome to him.  Gilbert’s appointment as Acting Principal will give us continuity, stability and uninterrupted teaching and learning for our students.
