Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School
End of Year School Captain Report

Hi, we are Anika and Matilda, OLGC’s 2022 School Leaders.  This year has been a wonderful year, full of opportunities and excitement.  It was so nice to have this year at school, after all of the restrictions and lockdowns we have faced in the past few years.

In Terms 3 and 4, we had the OLGC School Production ‘What’s the Crime Mr Wolf?’, which was a really fun experience and a big highlight of the year.  It was great to see the whole school come together and everyone put in an amazing effort.

We have also had lots of extra curricular activities throughout the year.  In Term 3 we had a seven week debating course.  Every Friday 6 students were chosen to participate in a debate that they would then research and present to the rest of the class.  We found this very enjoyable and we really did learn a lot about how to debate and argue.

This year we also had our whole school assemblies every second Friday.  At these assemblies, we would read the weekly student awards, read out important messages and wish happy birthday to all the students who were celebrating in those two weeks.  We also had Monday morning assemblies every week.  At these assemblies, as the School Captains, we would give out Captain’s Awards, which were given to students we chose that week.

The Year 6’s also made their Confirmation.  In the lead up to receiving the Sacrament, we had our Confirmation Reflection Day at Don Bosco Retreat Centre in Lysterfield.  On the Reflection Day, we got to do activities like learning about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and reflect on what Confirmation is.  We also got to go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

2022 has been a great year.  We have done so many fun activities and we are super excited to see what the leaders for next year will bring to OLGC.

It has been a great pleasure to represent the school as the captains.  All of us Year 6’s are really excited to move onto high school, but we will miss OLGC.  As we say goodbye, on behalf of the whole class, we would like to thank the staff and teachers who have helped us and supported us throughout the years at OLGC.
