The Year 4 students of Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School have been busy preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist this term. They have reflected on their faith journey as they renewed their baptismal promises and work towards receiving their First Communion. Students have explored the meaning of the Eucharist, the Last Supper and the parts of Mass through a range of learning opportunities. A particular highlight for many was baking a number of flatbread with Miss Hennessy.

As part of their preparation, students participated in a Reflection Day at Holy Cross Retreat Centre. This was a fantastic opportunity to build on the understandings that they had learnt in class and engage in music led by Gen Bryant and her team.

Father Brendan and Father Hoang worked with the students to explore altar serving as a way they can participate in the Parish community. They looked at the symbols in the Church and their meanings and had a wonderful time trying on the robes and experiencing the various aspects of the role.

Our first group of students celebrated the Sacrament last weekend, and we look forward to celebrating with the rest of the Year 4s this coming weekend.
