School Voices

This term Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School has started off with a buzz in the air and the Preps celebrating 100 days of school and the hype has continued throughout the term with only 4 weeks until we break again in readiness for the last term of the year.

We have celebrated Book Week, two Feast days (Mary MacKillop and The Assumption), Wellbeing and Science Week, Family Mass and Year 6 Commitment Mass for Confirmation and 5/6 students public speaking with Father’s Day soon approaching with our annual Father’s Day Breakfast and the basketball competition with Year 6 students against the dads.

This weekend we present our bi-annual Art Show.  Opening night is tonight and it will be opened to the Parish community on Sunday after Mass.

Confirmation

Year 6 students are well underway in their learning about the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Celebrating the feast day of Mary MacKillop and learning about her as our first Australian Saint has prompted the students to go further with their inquiry into other faith-filled people that they will select as their saints ‘confirmation’ name that they admire and strive to be like in today’s world.

Next Friday, 1 September, all the Year 6 students will participate in a Reflection Day at the Don Bosco Retreat Centre, Lysterfield.  Candidates from Our Lady’s, Our Holy Redeemer and those students attending the Parish Preparation Program, will join us on the day, spending time reflecting on the Sacrament of Confirmation.  There will be group activities and music facilitated by Gen Bryant and her Team.
