A Year with the Youth Engagement Project

Just like every year, the Youth Engagement Project (YEP) had big plans for 2020, but of course these plans changed very quickly to match the climate of the year.

We kicked off 2020 strongly with our annual January Bourke trip.  It turned out to be our only visit to Bourke this year, during which time our volunteers supported the community mainly by running holiday programs, which featured many games of chase, colouring and flips in the pool.

Youth Mass became our major focus for the year, as we participated in online Masses.  We had the chance to record our lovely choir and readers once, before restrictions increased and we had to become even more flexible.  The parish team put their editing skills to great use by inserting videos of our young people reading for Mass into the monthly Youth Mass recordings.

During our final Youth Mass of the year, we were thrilled to be able to return to in-person celebrations with our choir in full swing.  We had a wonderful turnout for Mass and it was a true joy to be able to gather, sing and celebrate once again as we draw to the end of the year.

Now that restrictions have eased, we are incredibly excited to be planning for January Bourke 2021.  A huge thank you to everyone for your ongoing support during such a difficult year!   Please continue to keep our youth in your prayers.
