The Governor ‘virtually’ dropped in to see Father Trac

Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria has been ‘virtually’ visiting communities around the State to see how Victorians are faring during the Coronavirus pandemic.  As you can imagine the Governor has an incredibly demanding schedule.  You just have to pop on to the Governor of Victoria website to see the number of appointments Her Excellency has each week.

Last Tuesday, 25 August Governor Dessau hosted a virtual meeting of a number of clergy in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to hear from them how their communities of faith were coping with Stage 4 lockdown and with the pandemic in general.

Father Trac was among a group of five priests who shared with the Governor their own experience and that of their communities.  Father Trac reported that the Governor was very keen to hear what was happening in parish life.   He was able to share with her some of the things that we are doing in Camberwell, Balwyn, Deepdene, and Surrey Hills Wattle Park.  The Governor heard about our online Masses, our Prayer of the Week, Liturgy for Children at home, our Parish Survey and our phone call ministry as well as hearing about the new skills we have all had to learn in navigating Zoom, MailChimp, Facebook Groups and much more.

Her Excellency was genuinely interested in our communities and wanted us to be assured of her thoughts and encouragement.  We are grateful for her brief visit to our Parish and wish her and her husband Tony every blessing from our Parish community in return.

The Governor’s message to all Victorians is available here.
